Team members from the Ken Zen Ichi Kan once again dominated their opponents at the 42nd Annual All-Star Tournament held at Occidental College October 7th. Gold medal winners included Christian Michaels and Kevin Rivera in their respective kumite divisions. Michaels bounced back courageously from getting hit hard in the head to capture the black belt division, while Rivera charged through a large field of competitors in the intermediate division. Meanwhile, his brother Alex took a silver in kata and bronze in kumite in his age group, emerging as a double medal winner. Julianna Cavendar stole the bronze in the tough girls advanced kumite, while Kalie Klibanov captured silver in kumite in her division. Congratulations also goes out to Brandon Michaels and Matthew Cusolito, who competed valiantly with great courage and dignity.
